There is a need for secure cloud, not only to protect it from external threats but also from threats from within. There is presence of large volume of crucial data, from several organizations and people, within a single infrastructure, which can make an easy and lucrative target. The latest scandals are good examples of how important it has become to protect the cloud.
In the case of the PRISM scandal, the culprit turned out to be the government. This comes as an unexpected threat to security in the cloud because it is not expected to defend your organization against governments. Many business types are required to comply with stringent regulations to protect data and privacy of their customers or stakeholders. The type of information that needs to be protected includes personal details of individuals, and their financial data including credit card numbers. Organizations that store such data need to have more stringent cloud security.
Despite growing hacker sophistication, data security is possible using high-end cloud security. It is recommended to use many of the advanced techniques used in the data centers to secure the cloud. But the cloud is not the same as physical data centers as it doesn’t have any physical walls. This requires creation of virtual walls for protecting secure cloud and preventing hackers from getting access to the data through encryption.
