Secure your Stuff with Viivo

You are probably now familiar with most cloud storage services, such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, etc. Their services are very simple and user friendly, but they lack one very important thing – reliable business-level security. This is where Viivo comes at hand. As the people behind Viivo say for cloud storage providers: “they make it simple, we make it secure”.

Usually, once your data is stored in the cloud, the control upon it passes to the hands of the cloud service provider. Viivo makes it possible that the control upon your files always remains with you.

Now, let's explain how it works. It uses public key cryptography to secure your files before they synchronize to your cloud storage. Viivo does that without breaking the cloud provider workflows. The encryption and decryption process is completely automatic.

Viivo secures your data before it gets synchronized to your Dropbox, Box, Drive and OneDrive accounts. It is these four cloud storage services it works with.

When you download the desktop application, you are provided with the option to select your current cloud storage service. This way the system will later encrypt the files you share and upload to this online cloud platform.

The Viivo servers do not see copies of your data or your password. This way you are the one and only person who holds the keys to securing your data, not the cloud storage provider. The encryption standards that Viivo uses are RSA 2048 and AES-256. This way they are able to protect your data from hackers and other security attacks. Viivo users a multi-level hybrid encryption approach when securing your files, regardless of whether they are personal or shared. Simply put, your files and folders are already encrypted with Viivo when they leave your device, and every time you give access to them they do not need to be re-encrypted.

Viivo creates a key pair using which you can safely exchange keys between collaborators and devices. Your private key is secured through your password, which is only known by you. The Viivo system keeps your keys as private as possible by storing them separately from the cloud storage systems they work with. In other words, your public and private key pairs are kept in separate locations and they cannot be correlated outside the application. However, if for some reason you lose your password or private key, Viivo supports password recovery.

The Viivo application is free and you can download it for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. The app is developed mostly for personal use, but you can also use it for business in exchange for a certain amount. The pro service starts from $4.99/month.
